The other day I told my sister that, as bad as CBC can be, as much as it fails to fulfill its mandate, thanks to political interference & severe under-funding, Canada needs the #CBC. In part, because once our National Broadcaster is broken up, sold off and trashed, there will never be anything to replace it.
Public services like the CBC, NFB, Bell Canada and Canada Post, like the Canadian Pacific Railway before them, were designed not only to serve Canadians, but to help unify us.
Without them, Canada may very well become the 51st state.
Stumbling across this recent CBC documentary gave me a bit of hope.
