Reading in the Boudoir. Delphin Enjolras (French, 1857-1945).
An attractive and striking image of a woman reading by the glow of her lampshade. A wonderfully brushed turn of the century piece. Enjolras’ most prominent body of work consists of women rendered in the French academic style, often nude or in various stages of undress. Among his other works are scenes of domestic interiors, usually illuminated by a single lamp with warm, orange light.
