depression
I found this unusual mix of painting and glass to be rather striking, and the haunting quality of this work certainly resonates with me as a depression survivor.
I took these photos back in 2010 when they were on display at KWArtzlab in Kitchener.
I am horrified that I’ve misplaced the artist’s name…. does anyone know?
(I hate not being able to credit the artist.)

This is a photo of a work in progress, a painting my talented sister Liana Russwurm made of the cousins when she was studying at OCA. My stepmom bought it to ensure it stayed in the family. After my Dad died, the executors claimed the painting wasn’t there. My parents would never have gotten rid of it. And I really want it back. It hurts my heart to think it’s gone forever.
If you ever see it anywhere, can you please let me know?

Depression Can Be Fatal
For me suicidal ideation has never come close to winning, because of people I love. So far. I never got to the point where it was stronger than love.
That’s the thing… it could. You never know.
That’s why treating depression is essential. Of course, it helps to have a social safety net that allows anyone to see a doctor, and enough doctors to see enough patients. I think if there weren’t such barriers and such stigma, more people would get help. For many a suicide attempt is the only way to get help.
