A Place To Sit
During Ontario’s initial lockdown, people weren’t supposed to sit on park benches, due to fear of Covid-19 transmission. At the same time people need to get outside and breathe the air on occasion. Better in a park or trail than a crowded restaurant.
But many people need to be able to sit and rest. Without that, people with mobility issues, or moms with kids, or people who have travelled a great distance, or older people aren’t going to be able to go out at all.
Even in a pandemic, our policy makers need to plan for all of us.
Little Library Gold
I’ve done almost no reading for pleasure in the last year or so.
Between being sucked into politics, working on the grocery front lines, writing a novel, being the essential caregiver for my mom, trying to resolve my foot problem so I can get back to walking, making masks etc., I have been struggling to get through this year.
Which is why I need to get back to basics. So when I was waiting in the car for my cat at the vet clinic, I decided to check out their Little Free Library where I found Michael Connelly’s sequel to the “Lincoln Lawyer.”
Awesome!

Enjoy, for a moment, this brief interlude from the insanity of life in these times…

Still working on eliminating dairy products from my diet, but this has been one of my more successful transitions.
Wear A Mask
Those of you who’ve been following this blog for a while may recall I set up the @lauragaederusswurm blog as a memorial for my mother.
But I still have the Mom-of-my-heart, who is living with Alzheimers in a Long Term Care home. She is a big part of why this #COVID19 year has been so stressful for me. We are so lucky she is in a very well managed LTC staffed with excellent caregivers. But I worry as the case numbers rise. And as Ontario finally enters lockdown, I can only think its about time!
This isn’t easy for any of us, but I have to wonder why our governments have done such a lousy job of managing this. Vaccines may be coming, but I think it will take at least a year to get Canada vaccinated.
We need to work together to minimize the risks to Shirley and everyone who is vulnerable.

Please help me protect my mom.
