Israel doesn’t like UNWRA. Of course it doesn’t. UNWRA was created to help the Palestinian Refugees that resulted from the League of Nations decision to partition the land of Palestine to create space for a Jewish homeland where none existed.
When the International Court of Justice cited UNWRA testimony when issuing its Provisional Orders to Israel (South Africa vs Israel), Israel fought back by making spurious unfounded accusations against UNWRA that *still* remain unverified.
As Mr Eide indicates, UNWRA is *the* crucial humanitarian aid provider (and facilitator) in Gaza. Even if it were possible for another Humanitarian Aid Organization to take over, Canada was one of those donors. would try to smear it too.
I hope anyone who hasn’t will sign & share Petition e-4802 as widely as possible.
As I write this, at 9,419 signatures it needs only 581 signatures to reach 10,000!!! This is so important because the more signatures e-Petition 4802 receives, the more seriously the Government of Canada will take it, so please keep signing and sharing!
Thank you for your support!
Many thanks to everyone who signs and shares, helping to keep this terrible thing in the public eye.

I guess I was naive in thinking government lawmakers ought to follow the law. Particularly awesome in its awfulness is Ms MacLeod’s call for “legislation” to protect this inappropriate use of a place of worship used by unscrupulous realtors to hide behind while facilitating land deals illegal under International Law.
Does the PC Party embrace MPPs who promote illegality?
Not only do Israeli Settlements on Palestinian Territory breach the Fourth Geneva Convention in International Law, Canada specifically states its opposition to Israeli Barriers and expropriation of Palestinian lands and resources.
Ironically, the municipal owner of the venue originally intended to hold the stolen land real estate sale withdrew its consent from the dubious event, prompting the venue change to the Aish Hatorah Synagogue.
This land sale nonsense is not only happening here in Canada. Stolen West Bank settlement homes are being flogged in the USA, as Rich Siegal explains in the following video:
Stolen West Bank settlement homes are being sold in America to Jews. An real estate event at a synagogue was set up, and this fine gentleman (a Jewish man) was having none of it. pic.twitter.com/aA5BGJ79N5
Thanks to @Sasa_Ghada and Mr Siegal for taking a stand and sharing this information.
While I am not a lawyer, my reading of the relevant International law suggests countries that allow or enable International laws to be broken run the significant risk of being charged with complicity.
For decades Israeli governments have flouted International laws, and the countries with which they’ve been friendly (like Canada) have looked away, effectively giving Israel a free pass to do as it likes without accountability or repercussion. At this point the situation has gotten so far out of hand, and the bad behavior from government, IDF and settlers alike has become so flagrant, it is no longer confined to the dark, but happening in the bright light of day.
With South Africa’s case before the International Court of Justice, and subsequent ICJ Provisional Orders ruling Israel’s actions can be “plausibly” considered genocide, the possibility of charges of conspiracy to commit or complicity in genocide grows ever greater.
It’s past time Canada understands: friends don’t let friends commit genocide.
I very much hope anyone who hasn’t yet will sign Petition e-4802 and share it as widely as possible.
As I write this, at 7,932 signatures it needs only 68 signatures to reach 8,000!!! This is so important because the more signatures e-Petition 4802 receives, the more seriously the Government of Canada will take it, so please keep signing and sharing!
Thank you for your support!
Many thanks to everyone who has signed, and to the brave souls like @Sasa_Ghada, @BonsaiSky, ChelseyLichtman at @JewsSayNo, Rich Siegal, @IndJewishVoices, and all the people online and off who are putting themselves on the line to protest, and share information & awareness of the terrible things happening to Palestinians in the Palestinian Territories occupied by Israel that our governments and MSM have ignored, decade after decade.
I was nervous when CKMS journalist Dan Kellar asked to interview me about my petition to restore UNWRA funding. I’ve never done anything like this before, and am much more comfortable writing than talking. But I ventured outside my comfort zone because this is such an important issue.
Frankly I was afraid to listen to it. I only got up the nerve after my sister-in-law told me how much she enjoyed the interview and appreciated all the information in it. And fortunately it’s not just me! You’ll also get to hear from Mike Morrice and government Minister Melanie Jolie.
Thank-you, Mike Morrice! It is great to have an Member of Parliament in Ontario that actually represents me, even if not actually in my riding! I was quite upset this morning when I started seeing those reports, so I was very happy to see your post.
Mike is the MP sponsor for my Petition to the House of Commons, asking the Government of Canada to restore UNWRA funding during this humanitarian catastrophe.
Thank-you so very much to everyone who has signed my restore UNWRA Funding Petition!
Imagine: 3,051 signatures in only 5 days!
And here I was wondering if my Petition would really be able to get enough signatures to get certified for presentation to Parliament in just 30 days. I knew very well that I’m not the only Canadian who cares desperately about the plight of Palestinians in Gaza, but I didn’t know if I would be able to reach them. But it seems the people I’ve asked to sign and share have done a brilliant job of it.
And special thanks to Mike Morrice for sponsoring this!
While our democratic governments offer unconditional support to Israel, more and more people around the world have decided to hit the streets in peaceful protest for a Palestinian peace. We all have busy lives: nobody has time for this. I certainly didn’t have time to write a petition. But we have to do this.
Because we know what’s going on. Just as the Vietnam War played out in the living rooms of America, the War on Hamas is up close and personal, on our phones, tablets and computers.
With people being bombed, unhoused, displaced, starved and killed, the importance and urgency of the subject of this petition is staggering. Canada needs to restore funding to UNWRA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East)
Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament assembled
Whereas:
• In 1949 the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) was established to carry out direct relief and works programs for Palestinian refugees.
• UNRWA is the primary provider of humanitarian aid: food, social services, healthcare, schools, refugee camps, and microfinance, sustaining the lives of millions of civilians, more than half of them children, in the Palestinian territory of Gaza, blockaded by Israel since 2007.
• South Africa submitted an Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (South Africa v. Israel) to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
• After considering both Application and oral arguments, the Court concluded genocide was “plausible.”
• In its January 26th Order, the ICJ cited UNRWA statements documenting dire conditions in the Gaza Strip, before introducing its fourth Provisional Measure:
• “The State of Israel shall take immediate and effective measures to enable the provision of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance to address the adverse conditions of life faced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip;”
• Hours later, Israel leveled allegations against a dozen UNRWA employees, and Canada “paused” Humanitarian funding committed to UNRWA without waiting for an Investigation.
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to:
live up to our obligations under the Genocide Convention, to prevent the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip from “deteriorating further before the Court renders its final judgment,” by
reinstating Canada’s UNRWA funding, and
advocating other countries do the same to prevent the collapse of UNRWA when Gaza’s lifeline is needed most.
I’ve asked many people to sign petitions, but never started my own til now.
This is one of many bad things going on in the world today that could easily be stopped with political will. Unfortunately too many politicians in winner-take-all political systems like ours don’t actually represent us. Which is why we have to work so hard trying to get them to listen. And why so many people across Canada feel compelled to protest in the streets.
Genocide is the worst thing people can do to one another.
Israel has issued many orders to the people of Gaza since October 7, 2023. As a result, its attacks have laid most of Gaza to waste. The vast majority of the surviving population has been herded into Rafah, the last remains of a city in the Gaza strip. Today, more than a million people huddle in refugee tents that have no doubt been provided by UNRWA.
The genocide in Gaza is not just plausible, it is ongoing. And because it could be completed at any time, nothing is more important today.
That’s why it is so important to get 500 signatures as quickly as possible.
I am terrified that the end is imminent.
Which is why I am asking you to please sign this petition, and share it with everyone you know.
Although we need tio #DefundThePolice, it is important to understand tthat the #CDNpoli Judicial System allows these egregious breaches of what are supposed to be #CharterRights
