While the #ICJ's Provisional Order didn't call for a Ceasefire in Gaza, the UN world court *did* call for the prevention of genocidal acts in Gaza.

Check out the #GreenPlanetMonitor podcast on the situation in #Gaza. Although recorded after South Africa presented its Application and before the #ICJ ruled, the interview with International Law professor William Schabas is well worth a listen.

Anyone angry about "South Africa vs Israel" at the ICJ should really watch to the The Palestine Festival of Literature's video play list, where actors read excerpts from the Application.

Here’s how Canadians can support South Africa vs Israel
Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) has provided Canadians with an easy way to support the South African invocation of the UN’s Genocide Convention at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). If the ICJ finds merit in the South African case against Israel, the Court could impose “provisional measures,” including an end to Israel’s military operations against Gaza.

Hi Laurel
Thank you for this! I know exactly how much effort it takes to research and write a piece, so please hear my appreciation.
Your words seem to be appealing to those without a heart (many politicians for a start).
I would like to hear your viewpoint on the repercussions of Canada siding AGAINST Israel and USA – even if opposing them is the heart path to proceed. From what I’ve seen, if the obvious isn’t happening, there’s more about than meets the eye.
I don’t know what that is, because quite frankly, this whole thing depresses the hell out of me. It depresses me that my vote doesn’t count. It depresses me even more that the incoming government is likely to take an even harder stance against children everywhere (including First Nations reserves).
What is to gain for Canada in this decision? Also, happy new year, my friend, such as it is. May ’24 bring some fresh winds of positive change.
