“Five fat turkeys are we, We slept all night in a tree. When the cook came around we couldn’t be found, So that’s why we’re here you see.”
I always liked this little song my son learned in elementary school. I thought it was great the turkeys got away.
I always loved this great turkey platter that was on the table every Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner growing up. I still love it as much for the memories as for the glorious kitschiness of this heirloom.
These days more and more people are moving away from meat based diets, which has to be good for turkeys.

They’ve set their sights on an indigenous run restaurant in Toronto called Kukum Kitchen that serves seal meat and are demanding that they remove it from their menu. This is gross on so many levels.
This is a counter petition to their original petition. The original petition has thousands of signatures, while this one to date only has a few hundred. Also if you live in the Toronto area, please go and support this restaurant.
Beyond the good points made in this petition here are some other reasons why its good to support indigenous businesses like this and the consumption of seal meat:
-Nunavut where Inuit primarily live has the highest food insecurity and poverty rates in Canada:
If you take away their ability to hunt seals for food, you take away their ability to feed themselves since little grows in Northern Canada. Beyond this because of the isolation prices for common grocery store items are really expensive (like $20 to 30 for fruits, vegetables, meat, etc). This is not even going into the cultural importance of traditional hunting and eating practices.
